Fresh blood, Mates!

Posted by madamesmethwyck on February 16, 2012

The BrethrenCon crew's been workin' all hands a'fore the mast fer the past few weeks fer t' acquire new recruits to th' BrethrenCon cruise. Some recent additn's include Custom Cranium 'n ole' Blackbead hisself.

Feast yer eyeballs on the schwag, mates:

Custom Cranium - Darien Goldman brings her lair of the eccentric to BrethrenCon's Dockside Merchants. From Snuff Stuffies to bits'o'shiney, Custom Cranium combines responsibly-acquired animal products with elegant fabrics and metals in haunting and whimsical works of decorative and wearable art. We find her hand-made creations to be charming in an exsanguinous sort of way.

Blackbead's Treasure Chest - We are delighted to welcome Blackbead back to BBnecklace.jpgBrethrenCon! Blackbead will sail into port with his hold laden with treasure from around the world. Within the Treasure Chest can be found hand-plundered swag and booty, pretties and gee-gaws, toys, jewelry, and more! Be sure to take a look at Blackbead's books of poetry and his CDs.

Not only is Blackbead a Pirate and a Gentleman, he is also a poet renowned among the Brethren. He brings his mates with him for:

The Seadog Slam -  an uproarious pirate poetry contest conducted by the members of the pirate ship Adventure. Full of rousing poetry (some humorous, some moving, some bawdy), the Seadog Slam is different every time you see it! One poem may be as hot and lively as the Caribbean and another may be as stormy and cold as the North Atlantic!

Each poet appears before the crew - that's you, mates! -  three different times with three different poems.  You judge them on their words and their recitations!  You shout out encouragement or derision!  You become PART of the Slam when you determine the next winner!

New Blood Needed!

That be smooth sailin'! However, the BrethrenCon crew be somewhat dwindled since that extended layover in Tortuga, and we're lookin' fer some able hands t'be fillin' some important roles for BrethrenCon III. If'n yer itchin' to sign on to the articles, there be some booty in return. Visit our Volunteers page to sign up!

Wait too long n' you'll be shanghai'd!
