BrethrenCon Thrives on Corporate Sponsorships and Donations

For each of the past four years, on the Saturday closest to International Talk Like A Pirate Day in September, SBS has hosted the Buccaneer Bash, a swashbuckling party to help fund philanthropic causes related to raising awareness and funding for maritime conservation projects and causes from the Great Age of Sail.

This year will be our second year of expanded programming and our sixth year for the Buccaneer Bash. Last year’s BrethrenCon – our two-day convention-style gathering of pirates and piratical mayhem - was a roaring success with over 200 pirates attending, shopping, enjoying live music and classes, and just being pirates. We raised funds for our chairty of the year, The Gabriel Foundation. Our goal is to top last year's numbers, with more activities planned to entertain and to raise cash.

Here is where we need your help.

Donations are very important to our activities at the Bash; our budget for supporting maritime causes comes exclusively from donations and events like BrethrenCon.

  • Activities like costume contests and talking-like-a-pirate competitions need prizes.
  • Our silent auction depends on donations of the sort of plunder that makes a pirate take to the high seas.
  • Corporate sponsorships help to defray our operating expenses.
  • Lodging and food and beverage support helps us invite exciting guests to BrethrenCon.

We will be recognizing your generosity in various ways at BrethrenCon; all donors will be mentioned during the Buccaneer Bash, and appear in the convention’s gate book. Corporate sponsors will enjoy a variety of promotional opportunitunities.

Businesses making cash donations - are entitled to compensation such as mention on fliers, posters, on the web site and in the convention gate book, targeting your message to over 1000 pirate enthusiasts both locally and nationwide. Donate to BrethrenCon

  • Silent Auction/Door Prize/Raffle/Contest Prize – items donated for auction or raffle, or door or contest prizes can be of any value, and should have interest to the Pirate community. Merchandise, movie memorabilia, costumes and accessories, and gift certificates are just some of the possibilities. Let us know any special restrictions that you may have on the use of the item.   • BrethrenCon Guest Support – certificates for food and drink or hotel lodging for our guest(s) of honor, entertainers, authors, and other invited special guests.
